Check out this site with lots of detailed information on transportation options via ferry and seaplane: Salt Spring Market(https://saltspringmarket.com/about-salt-spring-island/getting-to-salt-spring-island/)
Note: BC Ferries has 2 options for travel from Vancouver to Salt Spring Island :
1. purchase a "direct" ferry from Tsawwassen to Long Harbour (Salt Spring), or
2. purchase a "thru fare" ticket so you can travel between Vancouver (Tsawwassen) and Salt Spring Island via a connection at Victoria (Swartz Bay). Read more detailed instructions on the BC Ferries website or contact their customer service: https://www.bcferries.com/routes-fares/ferry-fares/thru-fare (https://www.bcferries.com/routes-fares/ferry-fares/thru-fare)
Though you can get around without a car (via walking/public bus/taxi), having a car makes it a lot easier for sighseeing around the island and outside of Ganges.
If you do choose to come without a car, Ganges Village & Marina is only a 10 minute walk and has lots of restaurant options and shops to explore. We also have 2 grocery stores within walking distance. The BC Transit bus stops in front of the Tourist Centre in Ganges, which is again only a 10 minute walk.
You can also rent a car, scooter or bicycle on this island. There is 1 taxi service on island (however they tend to be pricey).
Please see detailed driving directions on our LOCATION (javascript:void(0))page.
We are a 10 minute walk from Ganges Village & Marina. When you arrive, we can show you the "short-cut" route we prefer to take into town.
We are about a 12-minute walk from the seaplanes.
